Our third visit in 14 years and it was marvelous. (One of our deeded properties.) At the gate they took our name and told us to check in at tower 6. We went at 3:45 and it was a bit busy at check in. Being short staffed, they asked if we would come back later for our wrist band / key cards. My daughter said "No." so they gave us them tight then. NEVER offered a sales update ! Took a walk by the bar with our luggage and went up tower 3. We had a 2 bedroom with full size beds in one room, a king in the master bedroom, and a pull out couch in the living room. We put food in the fridge for breakfast and some lunches. We called the desk and got linens sent up for the couch. The washing machine would stop after rinsing but before spinning, so you could force it if you caught that, but we called and they promptly fixed it while we were out. The activities had us going to BINGO a few times, mini golf, and Karaoke. The $7 Strawberry Daiquiris and Pina Coladas were listed at bars that were closed, so the pizza bar owner said he would honor the deal so we purchased from him, and again later. We went to Disney Springs, Disney Boardwalk, Celebration, The Magic Kingdom, and Universal's Islands of Adventure. We played fantasia Mini Golf, saw a dinner show at Capone's, and dined at Bahama Breeze. The elevators were super fast, and pool towels were obtained easily when you figured out where. There was a guy playing steel drums by the pool one afternoon and a Luau Show one night. We had a nice blend of staying on property and seeing the sights.
The hotel by itself is very nice with very convenient rooms and polite staff (excluding sales department). The concierge conveniences us to go to a 90 min presentation about Wyndham in exchange for a “gift”. The presentation used very nasty selling tactics. The sales agent would not let us leave the presentation after the 90 min, and just tried to convince us to purchase ownership in their vocation club. It was really awful, and ruined the whole experience of staying on that property. They just wasted our time and ruined the fun spirit of enjoying our time there. We declined the gift and will not be coming back to any Wyndham hotel anytime soon.
I booked a great deal on this hotel via Expedia for a three night stay in March. It was non-refundable, pay up front. I was nervous about the sales pitches but am good at saying no, and was worried about random cancellations, but figured booking through Expedia was safe. Turns out not so much. I wrote the hotel to ask a few questions about breakfast and tower locations, and never got a response. Two weeks later I received a notice from Expedia that the hotel would not honour my reservation. At least they didn’t cancel upon arrival like I’ve read has happened to so many. But it sure seems like this hotel is either incredibly deceitful or incredibly disorganized. Either way they’ve lost my business and because of this I would think twice about staying at any Wyndham property, if the franchise allows their properties to behave this way without any repercussions.
