Chiringuito Tulum

The business practices of this hotel are a disgrace to the hospitality industry. We booked a room there for our honeymoon months ago while they had a Black Friday sale, booked directly on their website. We are now 5 weeks away from our arrival and they cancelled our reservation out of the blue. We received an email saying our reservation was cancelled. When we called them, they said that we cancelled the reservation (we didn’t) and that all we could do was to make a new reservation with the current prices (which are ridiculously high compared to our booking). The hotel is refusing to honour their engagement and now we have to find another hotel last minute when prices are quite high. This never happened at any other hotels I’ve been to. Frankly, it’s not worth booking there knowing that they do not care about their customers. If I could, I would start a class action lawsuit against them. Shame on them!

Warning! We had 6 different rooms booked at this hotel. 3 months before our stay, they cancelled the rooms without any explanation. Their customer service team is unresponsive. When we finally got ahold of someone, they claimed we cancelled the reservations and said we can rebook at 3-5x the cost of what we originally paid. Getting someone to help make it right has been impossible. I wouldn't want anyone else to go through this!

Avoid the tourist trap hotels with this stylish and authentic boutique hotel. The four resident cats will welcome you and usher in the feeling of relaxation that embodies the area. The friendly and attentive staff cater to your every need. There is no room service, but the restaurant is very causal and offers high quality, healthy, local cuisine all hours of the day. We dined at all of the popular high-end restaurants in Tulum and the food at this hotel was the best we had. The Mediterranean sampler is not to be missed, but literally every dish was exceptional. Also, the optional continental breakfast is well worth it. The fruit and juice is fresh, local, and seasonal. The assortments of pastries were fresh and straight from the oven. The hotel is on the beach and provides lounge chairs, umbrellas, food and drink service at the beach. We stayed in a room with a private roof top pool which we never used, as we preferred the warmer ocean. The location is on the southern end of the hotel zone, very close to Sian Ka’an National park, so it is a peaceful and relaxing location, yet still walking distance to many nearby boutiques and restaurants. The best part of the hotel was the attentive and friendly staff, but it decor was also very stylish and the DJ provided a great selection of music day and night, adding to the ambiance. Highly recommend all around!
