This is one of the best hotels we stayed in there is absolutely nothing negative about this hotel . From the moment we arrived we were greeted by extremely helpful Fotini and Maria at Reception staff, and very helpful and friendly staff in the restaurant and bar (sorry I misplaced note with their names) Finally, Sam at the bar was a star absolutely brilliant, Me and my family thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at this hotel , Thank you .

Overall, the Castello Boutique hotel is nice, the staff are nice, and the location is great with dozens of excellent taveras within easy walking distance. Our room was spacious enough with a modern bathroom with a large shower, and the maids made the bed, cleaned the bathroom and replaced the bath towels every day. There was some confusion on whether the maids would exchange the pool towels for fresh ones, but it was no hassle to exchange them or get fresh ones at reception, The hotel staff are great, always happy to help and genuinely seem to have a smile for everyone. We have to say a big thanks to Yeta and Spila who always remembered our breakfast drinks order. The breakfast buffet was good with slight variations each day, but the hotel could do with an omelette/egg chef to cook fresh instead of the pre-cooked eggs kept warm on a hot plate. The sunbeds are plentiful, and very comfortable. They were not too busy during our stay. The pool is nice, not too big, and not busy either. Only one downside outside was that at one point during our stay the grass was somehow over-watered, and got quite squelchy for a day or two, which was not ideal. The poolside snack bar was mostly quiet, except around luchtime when a few people were eating. Service was ok, orders were taken quickly, but sometimes the food would take a while to arrive, but it was not a problem. Prices are reasonable and as seems to be the norm for Crete, the portion sizes are large, so we mostly shared a snack after consuming a large breakfast. The hotel offers a free minibus to the beach at Malia which has to be booked in advance. This service needs improvement and a bit more organisation. We booked for 7 of us to be picked up from the hotel at 10.30am and returned at 2.15pm on one of our days. The minibus didn't arrive at the hotel on time. After 10 minutes waiting we asked at reception to see if the driver was on the way, and the receptionist made a call. The driver finally turned up at 11.20, and we felt bad because another family had also been waiting for an 11am pick up which didn't arrive. We had a nice time at the beach that day, but at 2.15pm when we were supposed to be collected again the driver was not there. We had to phone the hotel and they called up the driver, who arrived at 2.45pm. We expected a better service from a 5-star hotel. After that experience we didn't book the minibus again even though we would have liked to return to the beach. I'd rate the hotel as 4+, but not far off a 5.
