Carlisle Bay Antigua

Please ignore all of the negative reviews. This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at! We stayed six of us on the adults side of the hotel - kids around but absolutely no problem, there are two sides of the hotel/beach so it’s perfect for either families with kids or adults. If you want adults side, just request a room on that side of the island! Yes service is a little slow, but you’re on holiday! We didn’t find it to be a problem whatsoever. Breakfast absolutely delicious and plentiful, delicious pizzas at Ottimo, gorgeous seafood at East, and delicious burgers/wraps/salads at Jetty Grill and Indigo. Jetty grill is adults only so we went there lots. The food was amazing throughout, from cocktails on the beach to afternoon tea on the beach! We loved the all inclusive. The beach was both incredible, it truly is paradise. The hobie cats, tennis and kayaking were so much fun. Go for complimentary tennis lessons and yoga, both great! We had massages and facials which were some of the best we’ve ever had. Suites were huge with modern bathrooms and terraces overlooking the sea. Even the ‘garden rooms’ which were advertised as non sea view had an amazing view! Try get a top floor room for the best possible view. Staff were so lovely and could not do enough to help. Do not hesitate to book this place!

Carlisle bay is beautiful. The beach is spectacular and the water perfect. Driving up to the resort is underwhelming but that’s ok since you are not spending your time sitting on the front steps. The lobby is pretty….open air and high ceilings. We had a second floor suite that was perfect for our family of 4. It was big and spacious and had a large balcony looking right out on to the bay. We spend 7 nights/8 days here. There is a lot to do and see in Antigua. Someone had recommended we go to Shirley Heights on Sunday night when they have a steel band and bbq. That was fabulous. Lots of tourists as well as residents. It was great. Food and music and views were awesome. We also took out kids zip lining down the road which was great as well. The concierge was helpful with somethings, but didn’t come through with anything else. We had asked about horseback riding and atv’s as well as pigs in paradise and a boat ride. They never got back to us on the horseback riding or the atv’s and told us the pigs in paradise was closed. They did book us on a boat ride but we found one ourselves that was less expensive and was the best part of our trip. We also were able to book the pigs in paradise on our own. Not sure if the concierge talked to each other because it seemed like every time we went we were talking to someone else and they didn’t know anything that we had asked for. So i would book anything on my own. Also, unless you rent a car, you are at the mercy of the cab company associated with the hotel. Now we were never told prices of any rides…just got a bill at the end of our trip and the prices seemed way more…for example we got a cab at the airport up on arrival and it was 62 dollars for 4 people….we were charged 100 dollars for ride from hotel to airport…..we still don’t understand why it was so much higher. But we did love our cab driver who really knew everything about the island and how to drive on the roads! Gym is small but has everything you need. Tennis was free but the balls that were there to use were all dead. Food at the resort was ok. Free breakfast everyday was ok. And dinner at ottimo was ok….frozen pizzas…..east was our favorite…great Asian food. The beach and water was the best part. Never had to wait for a chair or run out early to get one because there were plenty. The staff was great…everyone very friendly and helpful when needed.

Everything about Carlisle Bay is superb. The staff is professional and friendly. The rooms are large and bright and all look out to the beach. Lots of great activities and 4 delicious restaurants on site.
