This property has several great features. First of all we were granted early check in at 1:00 PM upon arrival. The location can not be beat. It is centrally located on Ocean Drive and close to everything South Beach has to offer. Shopping, beaches and great restaurants are all within walking distance. Our room was clean, nicely appointed and centrally located. It was directly across from the elevator on the second floor of the Cardozo with a view of Ocean Drive. The downside to this location was that you could hear the elevator ping each time it reached our floor. The room was cleaned each morning and bottled water was provided. The bathroom was on the small side and there is no storage space for toiletries. The water pressure in the shower is on the light side. It is important to note that the room had two adjoining doors and you could hear ALL conversations that were being had in these two rooms. No one was being loud, just normal conversation and you could hear EVERYTHING! We did not complain as we did not want to dwell on this and ruin our vacation. We also felt there was no immediate fix to this problem so it was pointless to complain. This becomes a greater issue for us on the last night of our vacation. We noticed that the door to our room did not lock immediately upon leaving the room on our first day and we had to wait for a minute for the lock to click in and lock the door. It wasn't an issue until the next day when it did not lock after several minutes. We contact the front desk and maintenance took care of the issue immediately. Always check your doors no matter where you stay and do not assume that they lock on their own. Although a key card is required to access the elevator, there are steps that could be used to gain access. On our last night at the Cardozo we received an INSANE call at 12:46 AM yes 12:46 AM on my cell phone asking us to turn off our television as it was disturbing our neighbors. My husband and I were sleeping at this time and could not believe that we received such a call at that hour for a NON EMERGENCY.. The television was on low volume but as I stated before, the walls are paper thin and normal conversation can be heard through these walls. We could not believe that staff did not come to investigate, stand outside of the door and evaluate if the volume was excessive or not. My husband went down to the front desk to speak to the reception clerk who had made the call and make him aware of how unacceptable that call was. The issue was not the volume of the TV but rather the rooms that have no sound proofing. I was not able to go back to sleep until 4:30 AM that morning and then I was awoken at 7:15 AM by music playing (at a normal volume) in the next room.I did not complain about this because I feel that it is their room and they have the right to play music. It is the obligation of the hotel to provide a room that has some sort of sound proofing. I asked to speak to the manager the following morning. Richard the manager told me that he could see both sides of the issue. What both sides? The issue is clearly lack of sound proofing. As such that should be addressed along with an apology for disturbing us in the middle of the night. I would also think training staff members on how to speak to guests about this along with some sort of good will token for such a mess such as drinks or lunch on the house would have shown some sort of understanding to how wrong that call at that hour was. This will continue to happen unless they decide to warn future guests of what they are walking into and have a policy where all conversations, music and television are not allowed during certain hours of the day or night or they resolve the sound proofing issue. To tell people when they can talk, listen to music or watch television at a normal reasonable rate is ridiculous. No one should have to go on vacation and abide by these restrictions. Perhaps a simple fix before they undertake the real solution would be to have ear plugs provided for guest and have a staff that is trained to handle these situations with a bit more understanding and offer the affected party some gesture of good will as a result. I am very disappointed and would not recommend this property for this very reason. Please resolve this issue and until you do please provide training for your staff. It was so unprofessional.

When we checked in close to midnight we were given a very small room when we had booked a suite, definitely a bait and switch! We we entered our room there was NO TOILET PAPER, and hair in the shower! The walls were dirty, particularly the bathroom wall. We went two consecutive days with NO housekeeping, even after stopping by the front desk on day two to request. We had trash piled up from shopping and room service food containers piled up that we had to clean ourselves along with dirty towels. We tried to discuss this with Richard, the assistant manager but got NO satisfaction. He assured us the General Manager would call us to discuss but never received a call or any response. We paid almost $2000 and would have gotten better service and value from a Holiday Inn Express! Our experience was horrible and I would steer clear of this hotel because they don't care about guest, or guest satisfaction, only guest money!
