The hotel itself is lovely and it’s in a great location. The beach is opposite the hotel and there is a lot to do in the resort. The room was comfortable and regularly cleaned. The food is quite average and we found a lot of it to be bland in the buffet restaurant. The queue for the pool bar is often quite long but the main bar is very well run. The entertainment was lacking and we only had entertainment on 3 nights of our stay. The pools are very clean but there is an issue with a lack of sunbeds and they are often all gone by late morning. The a la carte Mediterranean restaurant is really nice and well worth a visit. The A La Carte system wasn’t very well explained and we were not able to use our other two vouchers due to lack of availability. The hotel rooms are more of a 4 star than a 5. Overall we had a lovely holiday but probably wouldn’t visit this hotel again

Cactus Royal is the one of the best hotels I have stayed in. Absolutely fantastic hotel, amazing staff, unbelievable food and a great location. The room we stayed in was 177 had a fantastic view over the pool and surpassed our expectations. We arrived late due to being delayed in Edinburgh - which meant we missed dinner that evening, the hotel had set aside a couple salads and rolls which was a great gesture. On arriving in the room the mini bar is free for the first night (excellent addition to have) The pool bar was always busy and Natalia the server was always friendly and happy to help. Great selection of drinks available. The restaurant is fantastic, always fresh, always tasty and a great selection - the chefs are always about and happy to answer any questions you have. We tried the complimentary Italian one night and I couldn't recommend it more - it was 5 courses and wasn't just tasting course it was full meals which unfortunately we did have to leave some of it which felt like a waste as it was so tatsy. I couldn't highly recommend Cactus Royal more and will definitely be back in the near future

Good hotel for a relaxed slow pace holiday. We travelled as a couple in our 20’s and the hotel is very chilled and enjoyable to be at. The food and drinks are all really good with a good choice every day and plenty of variety. Lots of themed nights in the main restaurant and 3 al a carte restaurants to choose from which are all fantastic. The entertainment was a slight let down but the hotel is at the end of the strip so you can easily venture out to other bars and clubs which we did often. The hotel is definitely more suited to older couples but this suited us well as we could relax all day and then go out on an evening. Rooms were very nice, cleaned every day with new towels every other day or upon request. No complaints at all. The spa and gym facilities are fantastic however quite expensive for the spa. The gym is very well equipped, the best hotel gym I’ve used. Checkout is at 11am and your all inclusive stops at that time unless the room is kept on for an extra charge - €40 for until 5pm. The safe in the room is also €25 for the week which was frustrating. This seemed like a lot when it’s already in the room. There is no real rush for sunbeds as other reviews state, we went for breakfast at around 8:30 and had no problem finding a sunbed after this. The hotel is primarily German guests but all staff also speak English and everything is labelled in all necessary languages so caused no issues. In summary: Negatives - Sometimes long queues at the pool bar as this is the only bar in the day and only 1 staff member working Not all cocktails are included and lots of popular ones such as mojitos have to be purchased for an extra price Entertainment isn’t great but it is only a small hotel Only given 1 bottle of water and this isn’t replaced, would expect a bit more from an expensive 5 star hotel Positives - Food and drink is fantastic Plenty of sunbeds Great facilities such as gym/spa Staff are friendly and helpful Overall I would recommend coming to this hotel but would only rate 4 stars due to the points mentioned. If you’re expecting full on 5 star luxury then it would be best to spend a little more and try a different hotel, but it is very good for the price we paid and would return.
