We stayed here for our honeymoon. It is a very beautiful place, with lovely staff. Only set back is it is in the middle of no where. You need get a taxi or shuttle in and out of the main towns - they run at set times. We were met by our driver in the airport and driven to the Hotel. There we were presented with a bottle of prosecco! 2 glasses of lemonade and lovely platter of fruit ! Lovely welcome and touch ! Our room was spotless ,clean bed huge and aircom. The pool area was so chill and the vibe was lovely. I loved the music playing daily in the pool bar. The pool bar food was excellent. The club sandwich omg it was huge! 14€ but huge portion ! Want to thank all the staff from Kostas on reception, to the cleaners always a smile. Big shout to the bar and restaurant staff, who managed yhe lovely breakfast buffet also ! And especially to Christian and Visilas for our cocktails and chats. Loved the Aurora and would recommend it.
We were greeted at the airport by George, one of the hotel's drivers and were immediately impressed with his helpfulness and friendliness. After about 10-15 minutes of driving from the airport, we arrived at Aurora and were checked in swiftly at reception by a gentleman whose name unfortunately eludes me, but he was very polite and helpful throughout our entire stay! Whilst checking in, the barman came over and presented us both with a complimentary glass of delicious and refreshing homemade lemonade. After check-in was completed, the gentleman from reception lead the way to our 'cave' room (301) and we were stunned by how lovely it was, both inside and out. See the images linked to the post. There was ample room, and the bed was very comfortable. The A/C was a great feature in the evenings as it kept the room at a nice temperature for us. There was a generously sized shower and vanity unit, with a separate toilet. The hot tub just outside of the room was also lovely! All of the above was immaculate when we arrived and kept clean throughout our visit thanks to the hard-working and lovely cleaners that popped in each morning. There was a small issue with the water pressure coming out of the sink tap. We thought nothing of it as we mainly used the tap for rinsing our toothbrushes and washing our hands. However, the maid was quick to notice it one morning and reported it to the gentleman from reception mentioned earlier. That same day the tap was fixed and we had a complimentary fruit basket and a chilled bottle of prosecco placed in our room as a means of saying sorry for the inconvenience. This was completely unexpected, but was greatly appreciated! The restaurant was intimate and decorated nicely. At the breakfast buffet, there was so much to choose from. I made sure to try as much as possible throughout our stay. The greek yoghurt and honey were to die for. The fried eggs and omelettes were perfectly cooked every morning, and the croissants and coffee were delicious! We can't offer much insight into the dinner menu, however, we can say that the snack menu (which ran until 7pm) offered a wide variety of sandwiches, burgers, pizzas, pasta and salads. The Caesar Burger, Italian Burger and Club Sandwich from this menu were AMAZING! The bar and bar staff were great! The bartender who made us the fresh lemonade on day one was very good throughout our stay. We do however have to give a special mention to Chris who worked the evening shift. He was simply FANTASTIC! He was inventive with his drinks for us and would make us drinks based on our personal preferences in flavour and sweetness. We had a couple of long conversations with him about the island, his life and his work, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We'd like to thank him again and wish him the best in all his future endeavours! The pools were both lovely. The sunbeds and loungers were also nice and comfortable. The general decor of the hotel was beautiful and the surrounding area was fascinating. The hotel offers a free transfer to and from Oia and Fira, which I highly recommend you use, as taxis on the island are not cheap. Both are about 10-15 minutes away by car, but the ride is pleasant as you can take in the beautiful island views. Oia we found it to be a bit more pricey in terms of food and shopping items. However, the views here of the caldera were like nothing I'd ever seen. And of course, the famous Santorini sunset from here was stunning. Fira the main city is bigger than Oia, and we found most things were slightly cheaper too. A good rule to note is that the better your view, the bigger the bill usually. However, this does not necessarily mean the food and drink will be good. We found a great Gyros shop that sold pork and chicken Gyros for 4 euros each, which was a lot cheaper than most restaurants... Usually about 20-30 euros for a 'posh' version of the dish. To wrap up, the whole staff were incredible and the hotel was better than we were expecting. I highly recommend it to anyone wishing to travel to Santorini. A BIG THANK YOU to all the staff for your helpfulness and for making us feel at home away from home.
Pros: The staff is very friendly. They try to solve immediately your requests and they keep smiling. Thank for them the stay in the hotel was bearable. They had great cocktails and swimming pool area was nice. Also there is a free parking which became very important as the hotel is middle of nowhere. They also offer the free airport shuttle service and few times a day possibility to go Fira and for sunset Oia.
