Annabelle Beach Resort is a 5 star All inclusive hotel, located in Anissaras, very close to the popular and lively resort of Hersonissos and 22 km from the International Airport of Heraklion. The hotel is a stylish complex of bungalows designed in the Aegean architectural style, set in extensive landscaped grounds and beautiful gardens offering an exotic atmosphere, famous for its own section of white sandy/pebble beach, which has repeatedly awarded with the European Blue Flag award for its crystal clear water and cleanliness.

Review includes answers to my complaint direct with Annabelle Beach Resort (point B) and Jet2 including answers from Annabelle Beach Resort A. Annabelle Beach Resort and Jet2 describe room as bungalow I relied on Annabelle Beach Resort and Jet2 checking that it was a proper bungalow. The international definition and Wikipedia defines A bungalow is a small house or cottage that is either single- story or has a second story built into a sloping roof (usually with dormer windows ),  and may be surrounded by wide verandas.   1. my booking showed a bungalow. BUT it was one of 22 rooms in a horseshoe shaped 2 story block. a. web photos provided show classified by Annabelle as bungalow and another photo as a room b. jet2 web shows bungalow and room . Given room whereas booking confirmation states bungalows. c. KNOSSIS ROYAL classifies its as rooms and not bungalow and hotel.com, expedia describe it as rooms. Tui don’t use Annabelle. d. There was a couple of single blocks but most 2 story high like mine. There were no genuine defined bungalows like I stayed in Far East and Pacific Islands. 2. Jet2 dismissed my complaint claiming that made statement “bungalow can be located on the ground or 1st floor “. a. The page I READ DID NOT HAVE THIS STEMENT- I SUPPLIED TO Jet2. b. This statement was on another web page at the bottom of list of room contents which cant be seen and not supplied with documents. Sale of Goods act requires critical points to be brought to customers attention c. caveat means 2 storey bungalow NOT a 22 room 2 level block of rooms. d. I HAVE BOOKED MY NEXT HOLIDAY THROUGH TUI AS IT DOESN’T GO TO ANNABELLE BEACH RESORT 3. Annabelle never gave jet2 a comment B. HUMILIATION COMPLAINT Bar tender refused 3 times to serve double expresso cappuccino and totally humiliated me on the third time. Antonios 1. Tuesday about 3pm 18 October first time bar tender told me that the handmade expresso machine with milk frothed is for expresso only. 2. Wednesday 19 October about 3pm asked for 2 expresso with frothy milk, he made it with just hot milk, then loudly for everyone to hear told me the name to order in future 3. Wednesday about 4pm a. asked for double expresso cappuccino. Bar tender claimed not to understand what I meant. I spent time explaining how to make it using the hand made expresso machine . b. told him that for 4 days all the other bar staff had made me a double shot cappuccino without any problem. He never explained why he is so different. c. he then loudly for the audience to hear stated you need to ask for double expresso cappuccino. THAT IS WHAT I ASKED FOR but after all the pantomime the large audience would have forgot my original request 4. verbal complaint manager a. the manager verbally confirmed that thought bar tender did not want to make it preferring to use automatic machine and would reply by email once spoken to bar tender. b. manager claimed not know name of bat tender. Later bartender remember me and my order without me saying anything. I gave his name to manager. c. I had to chase manger for his promised email. He refused to except my email complaint claiming it was a misunderstanding and no evidence. Only some one who loves his coffee would know that came from non expresso machine. How long has he been doing this? I think shows lengths Hotel go to keep a very good ENGLISH SPEEKING bar tender ( expresso drinks excluded) at expense of customer. C. FOOD unacceptable many times. Jet2 and Annabelle just said matter of taste. The hotel has a lot of variety so has overcame the criticism that just chicken and pork. However appears to have led to the following. 1. The food so many times cold and even worse the food just come direct from kitchen cold. 2. Even worse there were times when food too tough to eat and omelette and calves liver burnt 3. Restaurant manager on first day told me to warm it up in the microwave and showed me where it was. He made no effort to improve the temperature or quality. 4. Last 3 days eat outside the hotel and other days had cold dishes 5. Calfs liver should be pink and soft so why put it out for customers to eat? 6. Annabelle never gave Jet2 comment such as why restaurant manager told to heat my food in microwave 7. See appendix for all examples. D. Busy when wanted luggage collected. 1. Jet2/Annabelle Totally ignores all the disingenuous excuses over 30 minute. It provides total different fob off answer. 2. Hotel assured me that have 3 vehicles so can just phone a few minutes before due to leave. I only saw one outside hotel all the week 3. we would have been over 35 minutes late except had to book baggage collection earlier has hd to vacate room. == Could of lost our taxi or paid a 35 minutes waiting charge, even lost our flight at worst. 4. Why was our luggage delayed for so long and disingenuous statements made yet all the other customers had theirs collected? E. Private beach swimming unsafe. 1. It is not sand but fine gravel. My wife found it so painful to walk on that bought a pair of beach shoes at cost of 9 Euros. Both shops at hotel had lots of beach shoes. 2. There is a lot of sea grass in water. I think is part of eco system to maintain good water quality. It got everywhere in our room and bath. 3. It was difficult to get into water because of rocks . 4. My wife tried to get out but encountered large boulders so tried climb round them. As she did knocked over by wave that engulfed her. It was very lucky she was not badly injured or worse. 5. There is no warning of this danger and I feel that the hotel should put up notice on its private beach. Also notice on its and jet 2 web site. 6. Because of storms we could only checked Annabelle beach visually and could not see clearly way to get in and out of water safely. Locals told me that rocks underwater line all along this area. 7. My wife adamant she would not go in the sea again. 8. Annabelle never gave Jet2 a comment swimming on unsafe beach. F. Taxi price list at least 10 months old 1. Antonios only has 2021 taxi prices- this in October 2022. Paid a lot more because not have correct 2022 rates. 2. Since Hotel booked taxi why didn’t it ask for price as we heard other hotels asking for price whilst in taxi? H. Double bed instead of twin beds 10.30 pm approx had to climb over 60 steps to reception as not set up twin beds. Receptionist confirmed in correct room (130) and after 2 phone calls explained that twin beds but no individual bedspreads. 1. The maid had to put on a double bed spread as the hotel does not have single ones. 2. Then we were told to use the single blankets. They turned out to be very thick and made me so hot that could not sleep and took 3 nights to resolve. 3. Jet2/Annabelle reply==. The hotelier sends his apologies to you there was a delay in organising the change of bedding for you. TOTALLY opposite what I was told. I. Hotels attitude to complaints totally unacceptable. 1. My holiday has been spoilt by the Hotels attitude by demanding evidence to prove my complaint. It greatly affects holiday when poor service then made worse making notes and making complaint. I am not prepared to go round obtaining evidence i.e. recording staff , photographing i.e burnt calf’s liver and how prove cold food? 2. It appears that the hotel values its staff but not its customers David Davies Appendix on food. 1. first day- Friday 14 October a. breakfast was cold- both scrambled egg and the bacon. b. lunch (fish) was cold and spoke to restaurant manager. He told me to warm it up in the microwave and showed me where it was. c. dinner- waited until food came out from kitchen- fish and chips which were hot. Vegetables cold 2. Saturday waited for food to come out from kitchen- a. fish and chip and both were cold for lunch b. dinner lamb hot and tender veg look warm 3. Sunday waited food direct from kitchen=launch just cool with vegetables cold and dinner- fish cold, vegetables cool 4. Monday direct from kitchen. Lamb cold and so tough not able to eat and wife pork cold and too tough eat. 5. Tuesday waiting till food from kitchen a. omelette tasted terrible as found all burnt and rolled so cant see. b. Veal tender but cold 6. Wednesday wait until food from kitchen a. Omelette cold, b. calf’s liver which we love and have at home- should be soft and pick. It was black and burnt and so hard could not push spoon into it , c. rabbit hot but so full of bones that had to dig for some with meat on. Very tasty. Chips hot. 7. Eat out lunch for 3 days. Taxi fare to Heronsisi is 24 euro return or walking 40 minutes along coasts. 8. Twice did not have hot meal as cold and unappetising. Just cheese and fruit 9. Thursday 20 October pm.. Pizza bar was unacceptable as pizza as cold, unappetizing so left.. Slices in big containers like used for restaurant meals. 10. Bad enough having to wait for food from kitchen not knowing if hot but then to make notes makes the experience even worse. 11. Told Antonios Complaints Manager a. about Friday cold breakfast and lunch and restaurant manager told me to microwave food. Never gave me an answer. b. Wednesday calf’s liver burnt and too hard to eat. Antonios dodged answering and just stating calves liver Wednesday.
Went here as part of the package holiday with jet 2 in June. Positives the room was nice and clean. The swimming pool at the top of the hotel with the swim up bar was quiet and had ample sun loungers. The beach also had plenty of sun loungers on Negatives when arriving at 11pm there was no welcome sandwich in the room only a bottle of warm water. The food in general was a bit meh without a great range of choices. The entertainment of an evening was pretty much non existent and the drinks were not great. In all honesty this hotel is okay but its defo not a 4.5/5 star hotel. I would consider somewhere else in the future
Beautiful holiday at Annabel beach resort Crete. Went last week October. Wonderful staff, great food, accommodation lovely. Great massage for myself and a caramel one for my 9 year old boy by Nasia. Loved the mini disco. Beach lovely could get in the sea easily by a sand stretch near jetty and swim and spot fish. Took the 9.15 bus outside to Heraklion and could have got the 2.15 one back to hotel. But stayed longer and got bus back to Hersonissos got off at bus stop 20. Then taxi back to hotel 10 euros. Weather lovely 21 degrees. Wish I had tried the table tennis competition! Looked fun. Played tennis. Thank you all, from the family of three from the UK.
