Staying at Anantara Seminyak Hotel was an absolute dream! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm Balinese hospitality that made us feel right at home. The rooms were spacious and elegantly designed, offering spectacular views of the ocean that made each morning feel special. The beachfront location is unbeatable—waking up to the sound of the waves and enjoying sunset views from the infinity pool was pure bliss. The hotel’s attention to detail, from the exquisite dining options to the personalized service, truly made our stay unforgettable. Anantara Seminyak offers a perfect balance of luxury, comfort, and relaxation. We can’t wait to return!”

Can’t believe I fell for the pictures on Anantara website. The photos are probably from when it was first built and is nothing like it anymore. The hotel is described as 5 star. Well it’s anything but a 5 star hotel. At most this is a 3 star hotel. We booked the room with semi access to private pool. This was the weirdest private pool layout I’ve ever seen. On arrival we were disappointed with how the hotel was accessed and seemed a little shoddy, the reception area was like a walk way to get you through to the outside pool area. We were shown to our room and quickly saw the uncleanliness of the hotel, the corridors had dirt and leaves piled up. Walls which were worn down with broken stones, elevators just dirty and not cleaned in months. As we got to the room we saw an ugly generator hidden behind a wall, the rooms it self are huge but not very clean. Walked into the bathroom and mirrors and cracks and chips. The bedding had stains on them. Worst was the balcony which lead to the semi private pool, the lounger had dirt marks and the pool had leaves everywhere. Also there’s plant pots inside the pool, it was strange and sharing with the neighbours, I would never want to go In it. The room also smelt stale and old. We spoke to the manager who offered us a different room on another floor with beach view and no pool, this was no better as we had paid a higher amount for the private pool. We moved rooms as at least the view was better but nothing else. We spoke to the manager and said that your website is misleading and if it said 3 star then we would understand. This is not a 5 star hotel by any means. The lift was rickety and on one day we saw a couple get squashed by the doors and then heard a loud thud. Everyone including hotel staff thought the lift had fallen through the shaft. We were shaken and I have a video that documents this too. The manager offered us a complimentary trip to the airport and breakfast

Foreword - The day after we had to leave the hotel, I reached out to the GM on LinkedIn the next day as the staff was not willing to make me speak to him. He sent me his contact details and we spoke at length and he apologised for the staff’s mishandling of the situation and offered to rectify the situation but there was no way for me to go back as it was too late and I had already shifted to another place. And more than that, the entire episode was extremely harrowing as we had reached Grand Seminyak in the evening and had to check out within a couple of hours. I did mention to him that I will be posting a review of our experience. Posting my review for future travellers so that they can make up their own mind. Probably the worst hotel l have seen in my life and the only thing worse was the staff and their attitude. We had booked 2 Grand Seminyak Suites and the rooms they gave us had ZERO privacy. One of the hotel stairwells was overlooking both rooms and the only way we would've had privacy is if we had kept our curtains shut throughout the stay! So no natural light either! The rooms had an outdoor jacuzzi in the balcony in full view of the staircase and corridors. Again zero privacy. When this was pointed out to the front office staff, we were told that we were most welcome to check out! I asked for an alternate room and they said none were available. We asked for the GM but they said he’d left for the day and wasn’t reachable/ answering his phone. The Duty Manager Ms. Ni Luh Dian Darmayani came out to talk - untrained and condescending she flat out refused to give us an alternate room saying the hotel was fully booked. Once we said we'd check out, two rooms suddenly became available which were even worse than the first as they were on the lowest level of the hotel - one was right below one of the earlier ones and the second was also at the lowest level with stairs in front leading to the pool. This level is below the Front office level. When we refused those rooms, she relented and said over the next few days she'd give us rooms with more privacy. What finally made us check out was the cleanliness and their reaction to it. We entered the rooms and we saw frayed pillow covers, stained sheets and one of the rooms had a used razor (with hair stuck) in the bathroom, we went back to the Front Office to speak to Ms. Darmayani, the Assistant Manager Gisin said she had left and he'd need to see for himself and take a photo. By that time we’d had enough, and spoke to Agoda and explained the situation to them and checked out of the hotel at 8 pm which was within 2 hours of checking in! Dee at Agoda was phenomenal. She understood the situation and immediately spoke to the hotel and offered us a full refund. The staff attitude at the hotel is the WORST I have come across and I think this place needs to be avoided, till they can just train the entire team properly. We have stayed at innumerable hotels across the world and I have never faced a situation like this where the staff was encouraging a check out! They probably felt we would've not done so at 8 pm in a foreign country or found a place to stay. It was difficult but we found an alternate place to stay by 945 pm.
