With our first visit to the Maldives we were reliant on ‘reviews’ and ‘word of mouth’, but other people’s views do not always meet ours and our arrival at Amilla was full of anticipation. Right from the arrival by seaplane to our goodbyes I can not talk highly enough about ALL aspects of the resort including water sport activities, excursions (snorkeling, the Sandbank visits, Mantras etc), F&B facilities (Breakfast is an Event) but what makes the whole experience truly amazing are the people. There are just too many to mention but the ones that spring to mind as they left us with particularly great memories are first of all our trusty ‘butler’ Longey who looked after and ensured our every need and wish was met from early morning to bed time. There was Lesley and Yani in BaaBar and Isra and Alex in the restaurant and so many other ladies/gents originating from both Maldives and India alike..they are all brilliant and made our holiday and celebrations so special. Wish we could remember all of your names but we thank you all!
The perfect place, Island Home The island is itself a paradise. The friendly and carefully treatment from all the the staff is remarkable and made our experience truly amazing. Special mention to Jambe, our maitre, that kindly hosted us in every meals, to Vicky, our butler, who was omnipresent and always committed in making our wishes come true, and Sam welcoming us every breakfast with her lovely smile. We cannot forget the daily morning chitchats with Mark and Cameron and their contagious good vibes. Diving was very enjoyable too, Silvio and Andreas were masters in guiding our adventures, the very well selected sites for first class diving! Thank you very much and we hope to come back soon.
We went back after 5 years and could hardly recognize the place, the whole Island is so green and vibrant set against the beautiful crystal clear waters of Baa Atoll. One almost feels one has arrived on a desert Island until you see the smiling faces of the staff waiting to greet you. Our experience from start to finish was just wonderful. The staff are friendly, courteous and unobtrusive. We stayed in a Reef water pool villa. When you step into your villa you get an immense sense of peace and calmness with the sound of the water lapping outside. Each day we went down into the sea from our room just to gaze at the amazing reef fish and marine life just on our doorstep! Villas are very spacious and smartly planned with clear separate spaces which helps especially of you are on a longer stay and need your own quiet time. Each Villa has its own cute bicycles parked outside and amenities given are very generous, they even give you sunblock and mosquito repellent in case you forget yours. Everything one could possibly need in a room has been supplied and there is no lack of outlets for all the tech we bring along now. Wifi across the Island is great and if you need to be connected you can. We ate at almost all their restaurant outlets, food was good and the best part is that they were flexible to send anything we wanted back to our villas even if it was from the buffet. Breakfast needs a review by itself! My husband and I both suffer from different allergies, and we were glad to see Amilla caters to everyone's taste. They had amazing gluten free options and healthy options. Their menu incorporated much wellness inspired recipes which we loved trying out. The Baa Baa bar needs a special mention. The bartender Yani, a lovely person, created some fantastic cocktails for us which we enjoyed under the stars on the beach. The bar has a very relaxed yet glam vibe so you can dress up if you want to. They had an amazing singer Moosa that serenaded us with some great tunes. His voice was amazing. We enjoyed a days excursion of fishing on the beautiful waters of the Baa Atoll. The highlight of our trip was when we were greeted by a family of Dolphins which was incredible and breath-taking! Discovering the Island is fun and there are surprising little aeras of relaxation scattered across the Island which is great for just chilling with a book or catching up on your socials. Overall we could not recommend Amilla enough. Its both luxurious and relaxed with options to be both secluded and interactive depending on your mood.
