We had a wonderful 7 nights in a pool villa. The hotel has gorgeous jungle views. The room was very comfortable and we loved the daily housekeeping and turndown service. It did show signs of aging, such as the doors not closing smoothly, and the window and door locks being difficult to maneuver. Service was abundant and friendly. Daily breakfast was fabulous. Spa was professional and a calming atmosphere. The location is 20+ minutes away from town. The hotel runs a shuttle 4 times per day. It would have been nice to have it run earlier in the morning and later in the evening. There was one yoga class a week and we would have really appreciated if it was more frequent.
My husband and I had a wonderful time at the Alila. The staff is out of this world - from the front desk, to the restaurants, and especially the pool. They are all so welcoming, eager to help, and swiftly reply to any needs or requests. We opted for a deluxe room which I knew would be on the 2nd floor of the property based off reviews of the noises of other guests. I am a sensitive sleeper and knew I would go crazy if I had to hear somebody walking around above us. I left believing it really just depends on your neighbor.. I always travel with ear plugs for my sleep sake in situations like these, so I put them in every night regardless. Our first couple days we could sporadically hear the TV on of the folks in the room below us or the shower on, however on our last day (thankfully) a younger couple with the outdoor shower room was below us - music blasting while in the shower (for 30+ minutes), TV, chatting outside the rooms. The buildings themselves are a bit older, but the rooms have everything you need. Be sure to bring bugspray! We had not had a chance to buy any and the front desk was wonderful about promptly getting us some for our stay. They arranged quickly our airport transfers, and 3 transfers in one night when we went for drinks, dinner in ubud, then back to the hotel. Thank you to the amazing staff of the Alila! You will not regret staying at this beautiful location.
So i've seen some of the comments about Alila Ubud, and I'm a bit taken a back. We stayed at Alila Ubud (Room 101 for 9 nights in November 2022) and the rooms were in great condition. We looked at the Treehouse and Pool Villa as well as we were considering upgrading for our honeymoon but decided to be closer to the main pool. All three rooms were in great condition. The best part about our deluxe room was the outdoor shower and bathtub. The one thing that sets this hotel apart from the others we have stayed in Bali is the service - everyday once we came back to the hotel after a day out, we would be greeted, staff wanted to know what we got up to for the day, conversations were genuine and it felt like we were building friendships (: The service was really special - We never heard a 'no' for ANY request (not that we had an outlandish request at anypoint but really, there was never a time where they said 'no') - you could literally dream up the perfect breakfast/meal and order it and it would be served! One day we ordered off the menu - vanilla pancakes, avo toast with feta and tomatoes with basil and a mango strawberry smoothie - they said yes and in no time, we were served the most delicious, hearty breakfast! Yes agreed with some that wifi was a bit spotty in the room, I really needed to work and the staff got me a wifi device. It would perfect and immediately solved this issue. The best part is sitting in the cabana as the sunsets while tea was being served, we saw a pink orange sunset multiple times and the view was absolutely breathtaking! We found that there are not many hotels that sit between your Ritz Carltons + Four Seasons which are INSANELY overpriced to your lower star hotels. and we think Alila sits perfectly as a very good value 4.5-5* hotel. Can't wait for our next trip to Bali and Alila Ubud hopefully soon! Tip: Book your stay over a night where they have the live band (guitar and saxophone) - it was one of our favourite nights and memories at Alila Ubud.
