Had to wait 27 hours for a room, was moved to the abidas hotel, accras sister hotel, got upset stomach after eating there. This split us up from our friend we had gone with for nearly 2 days. We came back at 3pm the next day and was put into a “ luxury “ room for the inconvenience at 10pm…….wasted 2 days of our holiday….. was nice room and great views but needed to be updated, patio doors didn’t meet in the middle so not very quiet at night with the waves and whistling frogs! Water flow was poor, shower was only just warm, water turned off few times with only 1 warning about it. Kettle broke, got a replacement next day but just dumped on the table and old one not taken away. The sugar and creamers I asked for was also dumped on the table in a empty disposable glove box! 96% of the staff are pleasant but some are rude and ignored us. One even laughed when we complained about the guy sanding the benches down near the pool. Not very relaxing at all. No room or beach towels for days. Apparently the dryer had broke….. sunshine…washing line…..?? Great location for the beach and shops. Pools a nice size but not cleaned very often. Food and drink were extortionate prices but so was quiet a few other places but the local business folks like chicken George’s and the van lady in the car park are reasonably price and beautiful food! And they don’t give mean portions! So friendly to. Guests were even taking their food into the resort to eat by the pool. The rum punch is so strong to, but they ran out of rum and ice a few times….. pinacolada was nice but Bubbas across the road is to die for. ( and cheaper!) They are understaffed, badly managed and things do not get done. Would not stay here again even if it was free. I feel sorry for the decent staff here as they were amazing. You can find the manager propping up the bar if you need to complain……. Don’t even find the spa, the gym wasn’t in use due to maintenance issues for few days. No entertainment was put on except 3 singers on the first night and a guy for couple of days on his steel drums. No Aqua aerobics, no music around the pool, no entertainment at all in the day. No one approached anyone to see if all was ok and if your having a nice time. Cleaners were hit and miss, some cleaned around things and were so slow, sometimes not cleaning your room until 9pm! Bed was comfy. Seaweed wasn’t cleaned up outside the hotel on the beach, all the rest of the beach was clean. Even saw some guests clean it up! Paid a lot of hard earned money for this holiday and most of it was wasted on this so called 4*hotel and spa….. we spent an extra £800 to go to the Maldives last year and was worth every penny for the location, hotel, entertainment, staff was superb. Accra there was nothing but disappointment.
Booked an Ocean view room and was very disapointed. It was very small and had one bed even though i booked for me and a friend so we had to share a bed. The balcony leaked water and at one point poured from the above balcony. Reported it to reception three times and so did the maid who cleaned the room. No one bothered to look at it. The room was cleaned but lacked towels and on most of our 10 day stay we only had 2 towels. I have been to Accra over 4 times now and it needs updating as the wooden window blinds were broken and the bathroom is dated. There was no hot water or warm water so we had to shower in cold water every day. The only thing this hotel has going for it is the location as it is on the beach and within walking distance of some good eating places. I would not recommed this hotel to anyone. Your complaints are not listened too and the reception staff ignore you and are rude. All i can say is dont waste your cash staying there.
Ocean view room had stunning view, toilets never flushed and took over an hour to refil, cleanliness of bathroom could have been better but room had plenty of storage and space. Had to wait over an hour for a beach towel one day which was frustrating?, found most reception genuinely lovely and friendly, I don’t like to name usually but “R” very hit and miss with her friendliness and assistance- your guests are on holiday and a smile and nice manner is not a lot to ask. Beach bar staff lovely and drinks really enjoyable. Lots of complaints from other returning guests but we stayed room only and would have given 4 stars but as my title says, the little things matter.
